Major Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
(Include but are not limited to)
-
Respond promptly to member requests for service and provide minor mechanical assistance or towing as required
-
Ensure that AMA vehicles, communication equipment, and tools are kept clean, orderly, and in good working condition
-
Promote AMA memberships and respond to requests for general information
-
Maintain a working knowledge and an understanding of all communications and operating equipment
-
Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is utilized and maintained at all times
-
Ensure all engineered controls, safe work procedures/policies, environmental issues, rules and work practices are followed as per the Vehicle Operator handbook
Background (Education/Licenses/Work Experience):
-
High School Diploma
-
Class 5 driver’s license with fewer than 6 demerit points at any one time
-
Able to be licensed for Automotive Lock Bypass
-
Licensed Automotive Service Technician an asset
-
Knowledge in Health and Safety policies and procedures
-
Knowledge in equipment training and operation procedures
-
WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
-
“In-house” upgrading on vehicle servicing and troubleshooting
-
Completion of the AMA Driver Education Professional Driver Upgrade and Advanced Safe Performance Driving Course
Skills & Proficiency:
-
Minimum five years of driving experience
-
Able to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends; and perform effectively in extreme hot or cold weather conditions
-
Trailer towing and commercial driving experience with a working knowledge of city routes
-
Strong mechanical aptitude, and problem solving skills
-
Maintain good physical conditioning to be able to manipulate/maneuver vehicle and/or equipment for towing and servicing
-
Able to lift, remove, replace dolly wheel assemblies/servicing equipment
-
Able to lift and manipulate a tire and wheel assembly (up to 40 kg.) and apply appropriate strength to loosen or tighten most wheel lug nuts
-
Able to twist, crawl, lay and bend while servicing vehicles for extended periods of time on several occasions throughout the shift
-
Able to sit and drive for long periods of time during each shift
